We had a great December filled with lots of family and friends. We kicked off the month by going to a Jazz Christmas Concert at a local Baptist church. If you live in Richmond and never been to Jazz Nativity at Gayton Baptist you HAVE to go! It is an annual tradition for our family that we LOVE. Caroline had a holiday party at school and Phil and I got all dressed up for his company's Christmas party. Another memorable day was when we drove up to DC to surprise Phil's mom on her birthday. She had NO idea we were coming and we surprised her at the hotel before going out to dinner. We were also able to have dinner with my mom for her birthday but I don't think we have any pictures from that night. We were so excited to have a few house guests this month. Our friends Blair and Brandon come for a visit (and we remembered to take pictures!) and Aunt Amy came to visit for a few days too!
We celebrated Christmas with my family. It was really great to have Cammie (my brother's fiance) and Max (my sister's husband) celebrate Christmas with us at my parent's home this year. We also had my brother's friend Ryan spend Christmas with us. It was great to have all my family together especially because that time last year my brother was in Afghanistan. The only unfortunate thing was Phil and I got sick which was a real shame because we were all supposed to go out to a fancy dinner.
After Christmas Caroline took her first plane trip to San Antonio! Since we were doing the after Christmas before New Years time period with Phil's family we all decided it would be fun to go somewhere. His family used to live in San Antonio so we thought it would be fun to go back. We were also hoping for warm weather. The warm weather didn't happen but we still had lots of fun. We visited 2 missions including the Alamo and explored the Riverwalk. We spent one day at Sea World and another at Six Flags Fiesta Texas. Caroline loved seeing all the animals at Sea World and was excited to see from afar the Sesame Street characters (the kids area there is Sesame Street themed). At Six Flags she LOVED the tea cups, swings, train, cars, basically anything she was allowed to ride. She even stood to the side saying "off off" when she waited in line because she wanted another turn. Hmm gotta teach her patience ;)
